Rural communities in Nepal, like those in Chaubas, are often “invisible.” No one listens to their stories; they have no platform to voice concerns or express daily needs.

Urvana-skillshare strives to equip students and residents of Chaubas with the skills they need to tell their own stories-to themselves, their children, local authorities, the government, and the world.

IT Infrastructure & Training at Shree Seti Devi Secondary School

At Shree Seti Devi Secondary School, our volunteers work directly with teachers and students to lay the foundations for a true digital culture:

Setting up and maintaining the school’s IT infrastructure

Training teachers in basic IT tools
Introducing students to the responsible use of information technology
Supporting digital administrative and educational documentation
From Wall Newspapers to Digital Storytelling

Using techniques ranging from simple wall newspapers to radio broadcasts, social media, photography, and video editing, our volunteers empower students and the villagers of Chaubas with the tools to make their voices heard.

Journalism, Film & Photography in Chaubas

Beyond the school setting, volunteers support the residents of Chaubas in producing their own content:

Photo reports on daily life in the village and local crafts
Production of short documentary films about the community forest and the timber industry
Introduction to local journalism to give a voice to the residents of Ward 4
Training in social media publishing to promote Chaubas beyond its borders
